The following are the current grade routines with required qualifying scores;

| Explanatory Notes |
Qualifying scores are calculated using the first two rounds only.
* - Must be at least 7 years of age in the year of the competition
** - Must be at least 9 year of age in the year of the competition
† - Including the difficulty value
†† - Achieved at previous year's National Championships with required set score
Qualifying scores from Grade 6 to Grade 5, and Grade 5 to Grade 4 are recommended only, to be administered by each division; you can begin at Grade 4 if you wish.
Competitors who achieve the minimum qualifying score twice at Grade 4 are encouraged to progress to the next Grade
although they may continue to compete at Grade 4 until they are confident of progression to Grade 3.
There is no compulsory progression from Grade 3 to Grade 2.
There is no compulsory progression from Grade 2 to Grade 1.
